Midi-Pyrenees News : Report on busiest speed cameras in France
The speed camera that is triggered the most in France is located in Saint-Julien-en-Genevois in Haute-Savoie, while the Aveyron features in the list of lowest flashing departments.
The top camera in Haute-Savoie flashes an average of 462 times each day! Over a year, there are more than 13 million speed camera photographs taken across France.
The Paris region features in nine out of the top ten most flashed cameras, averaging 97 flashes each day in the capital. Department wise the Aveyron, along with Dordogne and Vendée have the lowest rate of cameras being set off, with an average of less than 1000 flashes per camera per year, while Essonne, Nord and Val-de-Marne have the highest.
From a drivers point of view, it probably confirms the obvious, that Paris will have the highest incidence of cameras being set off and a very rural department such as Aveyron the lowest. For driving around France, it gives you an indication of the areas you are most likely to get caught if you accidently go over the speed limit.
The full report can be read in Auto Plus magazine - in French only.
