Well, summer is over and the nights are drawing in.  What better time to look to the future in anticipation of the ski season to come? 

From my office window, I can see the Pic du Midi along with a range of other peaks in the Pyrenees and considering it is only early November there is already a good dusting of snow.

Having a quick check of the resort webcams reveals a white winter wonderland in some resorts and the forecast is for more snow over the next few days.  With the past two years having been good, the resorts are hoping for a continuation and with the early start to the snow it is looking promising.

So what are you waiting for?

The Pyrenees are not at the top of most British skiers list, but that is changing.  Until recently they were the preserve of the French who seemed quite content to keep it for themselves!

Although the ski areas are not as extensive as those of the Alps, the slopes are generally quieter and normally cheaper.  As with the Alps, there are a mixture of purpose built and soulless resorts along with the picture postcard villages.

Getting to the resorts is made easy with Toulouse and Pau airports within easy reach and if you don't want to hire a car, many resorts have ski busses to meet scheduled flights giving quick and easy transfers.  Have a look at our travel information pages.
