Description:
French general strike on Tuesday 7 September 2010
Tweet
Very little information is being given regarding the scale of the protests due to take place on Tuesday, but if past events are anything to go by and with the unions predicting a big turnout, expect serious disruption to all public services.
Public services will be either completely shut down or on limited service.
Service likely to be affected :
- Post office
- Schools
- Public museums
- Rail and bus networks
- Air traffic control
It is possible that any public service may be affected, so if you have plans to visit the Prefecture or tax office for example, it may be worth going on another day.
The strikes are in protest against the governments proposed plan to increase the age of retirement and coincide with the presentation of the law to the French parliament.
If anyone has seen signs in their local offices or spoken to someone that is going to strike, then please add a comment at the bottom of this article.
