Description:
The Episcopal City of Albi has been inscribed to the UNESCO World Heritage List
The Episcopal City of Albi, in the Tarn department, with its magnificent cathedral, the Palais de la Berbie and the narrow alleyways with half-timbered houses has joined the elite list that only includes one other site in the Midi-Pyrenees, that of the Canal du Midi.
The massive Sainte-Cecile cathedral is built of the local red brick and dominates the old quarter of the city, while the Palais de la Berbie houses the Toulouse-Lautrec museum.
Take a look at our Albi information page for more details on the city.
The Canal du Midi was inscribed to the list back in 1996 for the feat of its construction and the contribution its completion had on the Industrial Revolution.
