French air traffic control strike on Wednesday 21 July 2010

French air traffic controllers are due to strike on the 21 July 2010.  The stoppage will begin on the evening of Tuesday 20 July 2010 and continue until the morning of Thursday 22 July 2010.

The strike action may affect as much as fifty percent of air traffic.

The dispute is over proposed job cuts as the French air traffic control service is streamlined ahead of a merge with European air traffic control services.

There have already been a number of air traffic strikes across France this year and more are expected to be planned for September.
