Vic’s big walk for pancreatic cancer research UK – update
Vic Heaney is walking from Puivert in Aude to Blackpool, his place of birth, in aid of Pancreatic Cancer UK.
He set off from Puivert on 15 May with a few friends to see him on his way and has walked every day since, covering around 30 kms per day.
He has now completed week five of the trek, the half way point, covering a little over 1000 kms in the process and having walked through thirteen departments on his way.
During the five weeks, he has met many well wishes and received a number of generous donations on the way. Vic normally tries to find a café for a morning coffee along the days route and this often ends up with him chatting to someone about his walk.
We of course cannot forget Gay, his partner in crime doing all the less interesting jobs while Vic walks. She keeps him fed, supplied with clean clothes, plans the route, drives the mobile bas, V-Force One between campsites and generally keeps him in high spirits and walking onward.
Vic’s chosen charity is Pancreatic Cancer UK and is well worth supporting for the invaluable work it carries out. So far, he has raised £4,581.72, which is 65% of his £7000 target. All donations are gratefully received and Vic’s just giving page will accept online donations if you can possibly help.
Keep up to date with Vic’s progress through our daily updates and his blog, and post your comments and words of encouragement.
Good luck with the second half of the walk Vic, you have loads of support and it is growing with each step you take.
