Montauban Rugby Club troubles continue

Montauban Rugby Club in the Tarn-et-Garonne department, is facing going into liquidation after being denied a place in the ProD2 for next season.

The club were booted out of the Top 14 at the end of this season for financial irregularities and they have now been told that they will not be allowed to play in the second tier of French rugby because financial watchdog DNACG feel the club have failed to "provide guarantees of their capacity to meet their commitments for the upcoming season".

Montauban are expected to appeal the decision however it seems unlikely that they will be allowed to play any higher than Fédérale 1.  This will then limit the revenue they can generate and slow there progress back to the top flight league in France.
