Free guided tours of the new Brive-Dordogne Valley Airport
The new airport at Brive-la-Gaillard opens for its first flight on Tuesday 15 June and the airport is currently offering free guided tours.
This Friday (28 May), Sunday (30 May) and Monday (31 May) anyone who wants to can take a free one hour tour of the whole place, from the baggage handling area to the top of the 27m high control tower.
The first flight is due to land at 1020 on the 15 June from Paris Orly marking the beginning of the daily service operated by Airlinair. Starting on the Friday 25 June is a scheduled service to London City airport operated by CityJet.
An air show is going to be held on the afternoon of Saturday 10 July to officially mark the opening of the airport.
Airport officials are hoping to tie up further services from 2011, with negotiations ongoing for a possible new route to the north of the UK. More details of this are expected to become available over the coming weeks.
A new Brive Airport website will be going live on Monday 31 May and as soon as they are available, the flight schedules will be listed in the Guide2MidiPyrenees travel section.
To arrange your guided visit to the new airport, contact the Brive tourist office, either in person by visiting the office on place de 14 Juillet, or by telephone on 05 55 24 08 80. Meet in front of the terminal for the start of the visit. Visits are available at the following times:
Friday 28 May – 1000, 1430 and 1600
Sunday 30 May - 0930, 1100, 1430 and 1600
Monday 31 May - 1430 and 1600
