Description:
A British teenager has been told that his insurance company will to pay for his health care in France, because the car he was travelling in was overloaded.
One young Briton was died in the crash and another, Dicken Richards, was travelling in the car when the driver lost control. Mr Richards was not wearing a seatbelt and the police have stated that the car was overloaded.
Mr Richards insurance company have refused to pay his health care costs because the circumstances in which he was injured are not covered. His family will now have to meet the costs of his repatriation.
This is a reminder to not only ensure that they have adequate travel insurance, but also that the terms of that insurance must be understood. Clearly if you put yourself in danger or do not follow the laws of the country, insurance providers can and will refuse to pay your claim.
