Dover - Dieppe ferry service axed

LD Lines have decided to cease operating their Dover to Dieppe service from the 29th June 2009.

The service only began operating in February, at the same time as a new Dover to Boulogne route, but has been scrapped due to lack of demand.  According to the company, the route had not generated enough passenger flow, but the real problem was a lack of uptake from the haulage firms.

It was expected that the route would appeal to those wishing to shorten the driving time to western France. The Dover Boulogne route is expected to continue and LD Lines have recently started the fast catamaran service from Dover to Boulogne, cutting the crossing time to just one hour.
