More snow forecast for the Pyrenees Mountain ski resorts in the Midi-Pyrenees region of South West France.
Snowfall has again been light over the past few days, but resorts are now beginning to issue powder alarms for the next few days, with around twenty centimetres expected in many ski areas.
The other significant point to note is that the majority of ski resorts have set there risk of avalanche level to medium – 3/5. Care should be taken any where on the mountain but especially if heading off piste to take advantage of the fresh powder.
As has been the case in a number of incidents this year it is not the person that sets the avalanche off that is injured, but skiers further down, including those actually on piste. Take care when venturing off piste and if you are unsure of the conditions, either take a guide or don’t go!
