Are you still looking for that perfect gift for Valentines Day?  Want something more exciting than flowers and chocolates?  Then how about a fantastic weekend in the Midi-Pyrenees?

 

Why not?  There are cheap flights to Toulouse, Pau, Tarbes-Lourdes and Rodez, the snow at the moment is fantastic if you ski and there is so much to see and do in the region.

For skiers, the Pyrenees are still cheaper and quieter than the Alps which means less queuing and more skiing.  Many of the resorts have millions spent upgrading the lift systems and installing snow cannons to ensure that what ever the weather, there is always great skiing available.

 

If you don’t ski, how about a romantic weekend tucked up in mountain chalet with a roaring log fire?  Don’t want to work too hard on your break?  There are plenty of comfortable family run Bed and Breakfasts, that are just waiting to look after you.

 

Toulouse is a vibrant city, with a large student population.  If its nightlife and socialising that you want then look no further, Toulouse has everything you need.  Pay a visit to the Cite de la’Espace space centre, book a show at one of the many theatres or halls, or just explore the “Pink City”.

 

Further afield, the Ariege department is Mountainous wilderness and the Gers is a rural delight, with narrow country roads and picturesque villages.  Heading further north, the Lot and Tarn have expansive gorges and caves to explore, while the Aveyron has its own mountain range the Montagne noir.
