Toulouse is again building a beach along the banks of the river Garonne on the island of Ramier. The city will import 3500 tons of sand to create a mini seaside atmosphere and all of it is free.The city of Cahors will have its very own beach from the 11th July when it opens on the banks of the Lot. A sandy beach of 100 x 15 M is being constructed along the river under the Louis Philippe bridge. 1200 tonnes of sand will be transported to the site, ensuring a layer of 25 cm thick on the banks of the river, while a 5 cm depth in the car park near the quay where sports activities such as volleyball, badminton and handball will be held.
The entire beach facilities will be free to enter and will provide everything you would expect to find at the seaside. Palm trees have been brought in along with changing cabins, deck chairs and showers, in addition to a safe and clean swimming area.
