Description:
Midi-Pyrenees property continues to offer good value in the South West of France.
Midi-Pyrenees property prices are at a two year low and there are some real bargains available. However, with the economic downturn seemingly coming to an end, this situation is likely to change as prices start to increase again.
Across France, Property prices have remained stable over the past few months with the Federation Nationale de l’Immobillier (FNAIM) reporting that a very small fall during the summer of -0.3% changed to a small increase of 0.6% during the month of October.
Moving into the quiet season of the run up to Christmas, prices were not expected to change very much, with little activity in the market. However, November saw a slight rise in prices of +1%, with houses gaining by +0.5 and apartments by +1.4%.
Overall the average price of property compared to 2008 is expected to have declined by around 5% during 2009.
The Midi-Pyrenees region reflected this general trend with a slump right through 2009 and the main interest coming from French buyers.
So what of the future?
Talking to agents around the Midi-Pyrenees area, there is an air of optimism, with a renewed vigour in the market. Enquires from overseas buyers are up substantially and properties are beginning to sell.
The FNAIM are expecting a small rise in prices this year, with International buyers coming back to the market now countries such as the UK appear to be coming out of recession. It is early days yet and is no talk of rapid price increases, but this is an ideal time to dip a toe into the Midi-Pyrenees property market.
