Description:

The village of Saint-Lary-Soulan sits in the Aure valley below the ski stations of La Cabane, Pla d'Adet and Espiaube.  Access to the ski areas is provided by a cable car in the centre of St-Lary-Soulan or alternatively it is possible to drive to the resort.

 

Accommodation is available at the resort, but more facilities are provided in St Lary-Soulan, with its numerous bars and restaurants.  With the highest piste starting at 2500 m and the lowest base station, La Cabane, at 1600 m, it has fairly reliable snow cover and it is usually possible to ski back to the base station.

There is a good selection of pistes available, giving something for most abilities, but there are no really demanding descents.  The nearby resort of Piau Engaly is one of the most snow sure resorts in the Pyrenees thanks to its north facing pistes and would make an interesting excursion during a week long holiday in this area.

There is a snow park and border cross for the more adventurous and a free style zone at the foot of the pistes with a half pipe.

 

Ski bus : If you are accommdated in St Lary, there are two free ski busses that circulate the village, stopping at both telecabins. There is also a bus service in the sk resort, connecting Pla d'Adet with Espiaube.

Saint-Lary-Soulan is well known as a family resort and there are number of care centres in the village and at the base of the pistes.  The ski schools run children's snow parks allowing them to learn to ski in a fun and safe environment.
