UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the Midi-Pyrenees

The city of Albi is situated on the banks of the Tarn river in the Tarn department of the Midi-Pyrenees region of south west France. The city was in-scripted because of the collection of monuments and buildings that form the Episcopal City of Albi. Most of the buildings and are they occupy has remained largely unchanged since the thirteenth century.
Date of Inscription – 1996
The Canal du Midi is a 360 kilometre navigable waterway that links the Atlantic and Mediterranean through a series of 328 locks, aqueducts, bridges and tunnels etc. It completion had a major significance on the development of France and the industrial revolution.
There is a museum about the Canal du Midi at Saint Ferreol.
