Description:
Geography
Lespugue is a small village in the Comminges, nineteen kilometres north west of Saint Gauden, located above the Gorge de la Save.
Tourism
The village itself is pretty enough, but has nothing to visit. Just on the outskirts of the village is the ruins of Lespugue Chateau and a few kilometres from the entrance to the Gorge de la Save.
During excavations in Lespugue Cave in 1922, an prehistoric ivory statue, the Venus of Lespugue, was discovered. It is now on display in the Musee de l’homme (Museum of Man) in Paris
Economy
The only economy of the village is farming.
Transport
A car is essential as there are no train or bus services. The roads in this area are very quiet and cycling is also a good option.
