Description:
Lake St Ferreol was created between 1667 and 1672 and is on the border of the Midi-Pyrenees and Languedoc-Roussillon regions. It is just a couple of kilometres south of Revel and west of Soreze at the foot of the Montagne Noire.
The lake is situated in the middle of pine forest covering an area of 67 hectares, holding 6.5 million m³ of water and was originally built to supply the Canal du Midi and is now listed as a World Heritage Site. It now makes an excellent water sports centre, offering fishing, swimming, a beech with lifeguards during the summer season and many water based activities.
If you don't want to get wet, there are various walks including an English style garden and arboretum that includes a series of waterfalls and a water jet spraying up to 30 metres high.
