The Haut Comminges area of the Midi-Pyrenees
In the south of the Haute-Garonne department, between St Gaudens and Beatus lies an area known as the High Comminges.
Comprising twenty two communities, it holds a strategic location between Saint Gaudens and St Beat, covering an area of 126 square kilometres with a population of 7300.
The area offers thousands of years of heritage, none more imposing than the Roman ruins and Cathedral at Saint Bertrand de Comminges. The town was once a thriving community and held an important position at the head of the valley.
At the foot of the Pyrenees, the area is also ideal for walking and cycling, with generally quiet rural roads and relatively flat.
The Haut Comminges consists of the following communities:
Ardiège, Bagiry, Barbazan, Cier de Rivière, Frontignan de Comminges, Galié, Génos, Gourdan-Polignan, Huos, Labroquère, Lourde en Frontignes, Luscan, Malvezie, Martres de Rivière, Ore, Payssous, Pointis de Rivière, Saint-Bertrand de Comminges, Saint-Pé d'Ardet, Sauveterre de Comminges, Seilhan, Valcabrère.
