Description:

Larzac Rock Knights Festival in La Couvertoirade, Aveyron
Rock and Templars? This is the concept of our festival. It has the ambition to bring together Knights of Rock music and of Middle-ages.
The Rock Knights association, after a first festival edition in 2010, excellent in terms of organization but with an insufficient number of attendees, considers that its economic visibility is not assured to hold a second edition in 2011 (August 27/28).
A poll of its community of Facebook members indicates a greater potential attendance than the first year (1,500 people) but that does not reach the break-even point of 2,500 people.
Good news: several biker groups have showed interest for the type of proposed lineup and should be available next year; finally some promises of sponsoring have been made (private sector only). They should allow to get the necessary funds (indispensable during the first years) to help the festival take off.
The association will thus continue its efforts in order to make a second edition in 2012 (August 24 to 26th).
The association thanks all the members of its “community” who have pre-registered to this second edition, especially the numerous bikers who showed a strong solidarity by communicating on the festival preparation, the volunteers who had already confirmed their attendance and the private sponsors for their financial or in kind support.
The Rock Knights Festival is a new event in the South of France bringing together the “Knights” ofRock and the Medieval World. During the day, you’ll spend time in the camp of the Templars and of other military and monastic orders (Hospitalars, Teutonics…). They will demonstrate their fighting abilities as well as their handcraft skills. At night, Rock music takes over the place with excellent bands to discover or rediscover!
The lineup for 2012 is, in our mind today, in line with our thoughts for 2011 i.e. one night dedicated tothe 60’s and Blues Rock (with bands like The Animals, Ten Years After, Popa Chubby…) and one night more 70’s/80’s (UFO, Molly Hatchet, Blackfoot, Saxon..).
The festival’s first edition in August 2010 showed excellent live performances of the ever remarkableHAWKWIND, WISHBONE ASH, BLUE COUPE (ex Blue Öyster Cult & Alice Cooper), TASTE (ex Rory Gallagher’ s band), JOHN COGHLAN’s QUO (ex Status Quo), FURIOUS WATTS (Tribute to AC/DC), MARLEEN (Tribute to Doors/Hendrix) and WASH MASH. It brought a rock amateur audience (35/65 years of age) coming from other French regions and even from some countries neighboring France.
It has been warmly greeted and acclaimed by the rock press (Rock&Folk), daily regional news (Centre Presse, Midi Libre, La Dépêche) and radios (France Bleue Herault, France Inter, Sud Radio…).
