Description:
The National Association of the Castillonnais Ariège Pyrenees Horse
The Association was created in 1992, with support from the National Stud of Tarbes and the objective of preserving the Castillonnais breed of horse in the Ariege department of the Midi-Pyrenees.
The Castillonnais is a mountain breed, which is less well known than its close neighbour the Merens and is native to the Biros Valley in the Ariege.
The breed is perfectly suited to leisure riding of all types, but also adapts well to military and farming use.
The association holds and attends competitions to strengthen the breed and its recognition.
Much more information is available on the Castillonnais Ariège Pyrenees Horse association’s website
