Description:
Les amis des chats promotes cat welfare in South West France, and the Association is run entirely by volunteers who offer their precious time and energy to help cats and kittens. This important work needs to continue and expand to ensure the health of both domestic cats, those unfortunate to be homeless and those living in the wild.
We rely on the generosity and kindness of the public to enable us to go on caring for cats and kittens. All the services we provide are financed through memberships, donations, fund raising activities, corporate sponsorships and grants.
Our mission is to improve the welfare of cats in France by providing practical care, promoting the benefits of cats as companion animals and promoting responsibility towards animals in the community.
To achieve this we aim to :
- halt the culling of stray cats in favour of trap/neuter/return programmes. We work mainly in villages in and around Tarn et Garonne but are expanding slowly to surrounding areas.
- encourage and help all cat owners to neuter their pet cats by providing neutering vouchers for those on limited incomes
- help the rehoming of unwanted and abandonned cats and kittens.
- raise awareness and dispel myths and traditionally held views about cats by providing education on cats as companion animals, together with cat health and welfare advice.
We are grateful to all the charities who recognise and support our Association and to our volunteers without whose tireless work we could not operate.
