Religious intolerance in the USA
Pastor Terry Jones of the Dove World Outreach Centre in the USA is planning to burn copies of the Koran in a bonfire to mark the anniversary of the 11 September atrocities, when the twin towers were attacked.I have just seen the BBC news report on the item and as the shot panned to Pastor Jones in his office, there was clearly a handgun on his desk!!
What kind of religious leader carries a gun!! What happened to turn the other cheek? Upset this Pastor and maybe he will shoot you first.
Burning the Koran is just so completely wrong it beggars belief. I have no idea which faith the Pastor follows, but assuming they have some kind of holy book, what would be his reaction?
This can only lead to more unrest and resentment in any country that has been affected by religious violence and terrorism.
I really cannot see what the Pastor is going to gain from this, apart from his 15 minutes of fame on the TV and in doing so risk the lives of countless servicemen and women serving across the world and civilians.
Complete madness and I think him having a pistol on his desk just about sums him up.
