Us Brits and the weather

I thought it was just a British pastime to talk about and complain about the weather all the time.  I expected to come to France and the Midi-Pyrenees in particular to find everyone rejoicing about the warm summer days and the good snow in the winter.
To be fair, living in Britain gives you plenty of weather to talk about - summer is usually a damp squib and winters long and grey.  Having been brought up in the south east, but spent eight years living on the west coast of Scotland, I think the south east comes off pretty lightly.  The Scottish west cost is just wet!  And when the sun comes out and it warms up, you are plagued by the dreaded midge!
So in all the Brits having something to talk about.
Living in France does not seem to be much different.  My neighbour is French, married to an English man and spent many years living in the UK. You would think, moving back to the south of France, she would love the weather, but no!  During the winter she can be seen sporting two or three fleeces, while still shivering.
Okay, she must be a summer person.  No not really, often it is way too hot, she says!
Talking to my other neighbours gives similar tales.
Us Brits do not have a monopoly on complaining about the weather, the French are just as good at it.
For me, I like the heat and love it when it snows, so I can go and hit the slopes.  What I hate is that in-between sort of weather, when it just rains or stays grey and overcast.  That's not what I came to France for!! Think I had best complain to Sarky - Its a French conspiracy to make us Brits move back.  Hehe, only joking!
Anyway, this year gave us a fantastic winter sports season, but Spring and early summer have just been miserable, with storms and almost constant rain.
Looking forward to a good few months of warm weather now.
