Property Market in Midi-Pyrenees
News items recently about French property has been very positive, with estate agents, mortgage brokers and various websites all pointing to a positive growth in the market. One mortgage broker claims that May was their busiest month in the past year, while both the weakening Euro and low interest rates are cited as the main reasons behind the resurrgence.
Most of the talk appears to be of increased interest rather than an actual increase in transactions, so is it all hype and spin to try and boost the market or is there really a recovery.
International economies across the globe are in turmoil, with many countries struggling with huge national debts. The latest is the UK with an emergency budget yesterday that will make huge spending cuts while also increasing taxes substantially.
The two things don't quite tally, unless Brits were trying to get a foot on the French property market before the budget.
I can see this being another difficult year with economies such as the UK hovering just on the point of economic growth, that could so easily slip back into recession.
Don't hold your breath for a massive recovery this year, but after the pain of sorting out the national debts, hopefully the good times will return.
