A fantastic Easter Monday in the Hautes-Pyrenees

Had a fantastic Easter celebration with the French neighbours today.  We were told to bring some eggs and a bottle of wine, but should have known better!

We arrived to see people pulling up in their cars and off loading all sorts of things into Maurice and GenevieOmelette for thirty please!ve's house.  The double garage was laid out with tables and chairs ready for dinner.

Food every where, from pizza, homemade pates and fois gras.  Feeling pretty stuffed already, the omelettes started to appear and kept coming.  This was all lubricated with plenty of wine and champagne.

By now hardly able to move, the cheese and bread was next, but I had no idea that several very rich chocolate cakes were to follow that, plus apple tarts.

At 2 o'clock, it was time for a little stroll.  Just 4Km through the local woods to walk off our lunch!  There was not a cloud in the sky and the temperature was in the high teens.  We retuned to chez Genevieve for more cake and beer.

We must remember that when the neighbours say come round for something to eat, it means four courses and plenty of wine.  Next time we will add to the pile of food, but at least we will be contributing a little more than just eggs and wine!

I think this is why we moved to France!
