Reintroduction of the Pyrenees bears

The reintroduction of bears to the Pyrenees Mountains in the Midi-Pyrenees region, particularly the Ariege department  has been a long running debate and is set to continue for many years to come.

The farmers fear for their sheep flocks and locals fear a bear attack while walking in the woods.
Pro bear groups insist that you are never likely to come across a bear in the wild and that the number of sheep taken will very low.
Personally, I think the bears should be reintroduced, since it was human activity that wiped them out in the first place, not an act of nature.
Their presence would have a positive affect on tourism in the area, not negative as claimed and we would be putting right one of the mistakes made by humans in the natural world.
